Before you hire any contractor

What should I know before hiring any contractor to work in my home?
California contractors are required to submit fingerprints to Contractors State License Board (CSLB), which are checked for any criminal records by the DOJ and FBI prior to obtaining a valid contracting license.
Who is the CSLB?
The CSLB protects California consumers by licensing and regulating the state's construction industry. CSLB was established in 1929 and today licenses about 290,000 contractors in 44 different license classifications. http://www.cslb.ca.gov/
Applicants are required to pass a written board exam and prove at least five years of prior, relevant work experience. Haro Garage Doors Inc. has 17 years experience in the Garage Door Industry.
Should I get several bids before hiring a contractor?
Yes. The CSLB recommends getting at least 3 written bids before hiring a contractor. A relatively low bid may be an indication that the contractor may have made a mistake and is not including the same work quoted by others.
Was I offered a written estimate by all bidders?
A written estimate states the scope of work and lets the consumer know exactly what they are paying for. In efforts to saving the environment, we will often email the estimate to you.
Do I need a Home Improvement Contract?
A Home Improvement Contract identifies all project expectations to help avoid misunderstandings and affords you, the consumer, certain rights.
What if my door needs lead containment?
We are currently EPA Lead-Safe Certified.
